Often called the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” Montenegro has been rapidly rising as one of the world’s favorite destinations, especially after joining NATO in 2017 and advancing steadily in its European Union membership process. The small yet stunning coastal country welcomed more than four times its population in tourists in 2024, marking the highest visitor numbers in its history — and Turkish travelers played a major part in this record.

The number of visitors from Turkey has seen an impressive surge over the past three years: from 43,000 in 2022 to over 90,000 in 2023, and reaching a record-breaking 164,000 in 2024. Current projections suggest that the figure will surpass 200,000 by 2025. On average, Turkish tourists spent five nights in Montenegro last year, totaling nearly 750,000 overnight stays. Out of the 2.6 million total visitors, around 7% were from Turkey, highlighting a rapidly strengthening connection between the two nations.

If this upward trend continues, experts estimate that overnight stays by Turkish travelers could reach one million in 2025, solidifying Montenegro’s position as one of the most popular European destinations among Turkish tourists.
